Cyprus July 2006
In July 2006, I went for another helping of sun, painting, swimming, hill walking, eating in Cyrpus. As in 2005, I was based at the Limassol Studio and my job was to oversea the students who come for a month to make art. This year was a little bit fragmented as there were groups arriving at odd intervals and it was hard to build up a coherance. I was personally knackered after a year teaching at Brookes and painting work for an exhibition at Sarah Wiseman Gallery. It took me a good while for me to get into my own work and I made the big mistake of taking hundreds of digtial photographs which I would 'refer to later'. Therefore, the work here is disjointed and to be honest, unfinished. I had intended to complete these back In Oxford but momentum took me to other places..
However, it was still a great trip and break from academia. Catharine came out for 10 days and she did wonderful work while she was there. She went out everyday into the landscape and just painted it. (see www.catharinedavision.co.uk).
