Robbie Bushe narrative drawing and painting
Scottish Gallery 1994
In 1993 I became a full time painting lecturer at Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen. I stayed with my Mum for most of this year while I was looking for a place of my own. She lived in Cove Bay, an outlying cliff coastal suburb of Aberdeen. So, with no studio, I simply worked small on the kitchen table and explored the area. A new lyricism and use of colour emerged as I moved away from the overtly domestic and started to make work with more pathos and myth.
