Robbie Bushe narrative drawing and painting
Florence 1990
In 1990, I was awarded the John Kinross traveling scholarship to Florence, Italy. This award by the Royal Scottish Academy, enabled travel to Florence for about 10 weeks, as was for final year and post grad fine art students in Scotland. I absolutely loved this experience and it had an impact on my work which is still evident today. I found a way to use watercolour which did not reek of cliches that I had wanted to avoid. To see the Massacios and Giottos in the flesh was extremely humbling as well as very useful.
